Make sure it is profitable. Take account of all your costs and your salaries. Keep some money in the business if possible. You might need it for stock etc. Make sure you have the right partner.
there are tons of books - go to any book store and look in the business section - also lots of magazines on starting and running businesses
you need a lot of traffic to get the business. try a mall.

Good Luck In all!Starting my own business. Need advice with how to start your own website...where to go best servers?
I have used Freewebs and found it reasonably good, but not the best. As a matter of interest it is owned by Paypal
For my main website I use SBI which I find very versatile and a good host for an expanding business site. You can set up forms etc. for taking orders, subscriptions and contacting your customers.
See the links below for examples of both systems.
I recommend http://www.jumplaunch.com
They have helped me greatly %26amp; are still giving me intensive training.
www.freewebs.com ?
It depends on how much you think you will have to rely on the website. There are many cheap hosts out there, but the problem is that they can often be very slow at peak times, especially if they are shared servers.
A dedicated server may be more suitable if you are going to be dependant on the websites performance and reliability.
You'll probably have to hire someone to set up your desired system. This could become costly, but then again there are some freelance websites that allow you to post your requirements and needs and price you will be willing to pay someone to carry out the necessary work on your website. You should then get a response from a potential freelancer:
http://www.freelancers.net/
If you know what you are doing you could go to somewhere like http://www.sourceforge.net and find a free project that someone has written under the GNU license for public use. You would then need to install this onto your webserver and configure it. There are many PHP projects out there.
PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. It generally runs on a web server, taking PHP code as its input and creating web pages as output. It can be deployed on most web servers and on almost every operating system and platform free of charge.[
You will then need a database system like MySQL.
PHP/MySQL will usually come pre-installed on your webhosts servers. Search around for a good host - there are a lot out there some cheap and some expensive packages.
You can also try searching Google for ';Online Appointment Manager';
Or you could even try using and embedding Google Calender into your website - that could be a really easy option. But there would of course be limitations.

My company started it's website at freewebs.com. It lets you create, add links, etc... It is completely free because they do some advertising on your pages. Once you make the website more your own as far as domain names, then cost kickis in. So far we have paid $6.00 and our website is www.divineeventsandweddings.webs.com. I think this will save your life!!! :-)
u can use this...make money as well as getting ur website!!!!

There is a website I would like to introduce you to. The person running it helps to advertise on line jobs, products you can actually afford and also services and opportunities for people such as yourself. There is a website translator available on the site you can click on to so you can go global if you wish and get more traffic to your site, there are also places which do advertise for free, http://www.bizinis.com does it for free if you put there link right on your website, you can also get visitors.
In order to get it running you must ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE. Though alot of advertisement places try getting you to pay a fortune, it is hard sometimes to make it if you don't know the right place to look. Next, you also need the proper support system. A network of people. Some networks have thousands upon thousands of people who run their own businesses and websites who are actually willing to lend a free hand, and I do mean FREE. They're not like the people you see out there who say, ';I'll tell you my secret of how I made it happen, but for this amount of money.'; Then it turns out to be bogus. Direct Matches is a really great network to be involved in. I'm involved with them, it is wonderful.
Working on-line at your own thing, especially your own website, does not mean you have to be an absolute computer wiz. There are professionals, newbies, and just your average person. There are all sorts of people out there working the net and their own websites and on-line businesses.
I can give you three links today. The first link is to a wonderful new site that gives you access to some wonderful information on a number of topics. The second link I'll give to you will be to an excellent network which I mentioned before. They give you excellent support. Also on the first site I will mention, there is a link on there to a great company that helps you get your website running, that company also provides you with many other opportunities. You have got to check this stuff out, it's great. The third link I give is also to the company that provides the help I mentioned in starting your website or other things you may wish to start from home. They give you all sorts of advice.

The first thing you need to do is create a business plan, the business plan will contain your financial appraisals, eg- profit and loss accounts, financial projections, cash flow analysis, break even period, market analysis of the proposed business. I am very sure if the business plan is accurate, a financial institution will fund your project, who does this business plans? see a business consultant

Where can I find a site or advice to put together a business plan?
I'm looking to attempt to find independent financing/investors/??? for a business training horses - something I have experience doing. I'm at a point I really need to get a place of my own and not rely on subleasing - which means needing to focus on getting money to buy land and a basic operation setup. A bank loan is out of the question. I need to put together a strong business plan - and am finding it difficult to find step by step advice online. I'd greatly appreciate constructive input or links, advice etc from a business standpoint to get this off the ground. There will be a branch to other things besides just training.I'm not asking for $$ - but how to put together a business plan and trying to give enough information about what I'm doing to tailor the view to *that*. It's not like a mega company or store - business principles similar but there's much different.Where can I find a site or advice to put together a business plan?
Hi Jan,
I understand what you mean when you say you havent had much success putting the information together from online sources. Many online companies want you to pay $39 for a must have ebook that will put millions in your pocket..while at the same time, they are parying that someone will come along to buy the $39 ebook so they can eat!
Good information is FREE and its available anywhere you live! While most libraries have old info, dont discredit them. Go there, look for simple business books - not marketing, not how to get loans... start from the very beginning. You are at step #1 - you have an idea. #2 - you have experience (training horses)
Ask questions. Is there a need for someone that trains horses in your area? What seperates you from others in this area? Do you need more training? Are you financially prepared to go 5 years with no income from this business venture?
Contact the Small Business Administration in your area (http://www.sba.gov/financing/) Most every city (and small town) offers classes on how to start a business, create a business plan, etc. I have family members that went through the SBA and they ';graduated'; when they created a business plan and presented it to others in the class. In addition, when they graduated the local SBA put their names, contact info, url on the site that showed they had been through some formal training. For Free!
I have been self employed 7 years now and finally not having to sweat so much! I could have made things much easier had I slowed down and educated myself on what it takes to be the boss, the worker bee, the gopher, the .. you get the picture! I did not take the slow route. I jumped in with both feet and can tell you from personal experience, that 90% of the work is preparation.
Contact your local libraries, community colleges, and even the chamber of commerce in your area. Surely, there is real help out there for you to begin your new business - for free!

Would like advice on starting a business, chocolate tea pots? What do you think?
With all the doom and gloom going around, I need some advice on starting a business to make some extra money. I came up with the idea of making tea pots from chocolate, you know maybe a few different flavours, dark chocolate, cream chocolate, nuts,no nuts etc. What do you think, would it be doable?Would like advice on starting a business, chocolate tea pots? What do you think?
Anything made from chocolate would sell! I hope you mean a pot to hold iced tea and not something that would make it melt. Oh well, since its chocolate people would just eat the pot no matter what your original intention was for the product.Would like advice on starting a business, chocolate tea pots? What do you think?
That is an adorable idea!!
I'm running a small business making chocolate fireguards, they're proving to be very popular, but I expect sales will drop during the summer season. I've been thinking about branching out for a while, my plan was to relocate to Greenland to sell fridges to the Eskimos, but I do like your teapot idea. Give me a call.
The only bad thing is someone would actually put hot tea in it and it would melt and they would get a cocksuckin lawyer and sue you for 2.4 million dollars so i would make like chocalate dildos and ******* that way nobody would complain to much.
I think there would actually be a market for that as a cute joke-y present.

How do you get your customers? What do you charge? How can I lead my business towards success?I'm starting a dog poop pick up business and would like some advice on others who have done the same thing?

There are plenty if you type in poop scoop business in google.
Just some tips, advertise on free classified sites on line. Post up some posters at local pet stores and grocery stores. Place an ad in the local paper (most places have free papers have a look into that, ads dont cost in them).
I saw an ad once that not only did poop scooping but also watered plants, fed animals, took out rubbish and stuff for people who were away. It was just some of the added services they offered. Just a suggestion anyway.
Good luck!I'm starting a dog poop pick up business and would like some advice on others who have done the same thing?
That's got to be the poopiest job in the world !!!!!
I couldn't believe this was serious until I saw some of the links below.
Are you really really telling me that people pay to have their dog poop scooped. How piggin' lazy is that.
Best of luck with it then. If people are that lazy then I would milk them all you can.
Scratching my head in a ';don't believe this'; way. lol.

This may sound a little silly but watch morning news TV shows about fashion, dressing properly, or shopping. Here in Colorado they have something on one of the local TV stations talking about what to do locally.
The reason I say look for something like this is to pick up the the terms they use and the points they make. Sometimes shows like the ';Today Show'; or other prime TV programs have the same thing.
Another idea is to go to Barns %26amp; Noble or some other book store and look at the current fashion magazines. Get a flavor of their speech and presentation. They may use terms line ';Modernize and Assorize!'; or ';Looking like a million dollars on a shoe string budget.'; From there you can let your imagination take over.
Also look at the accent colors used in the magazines for their advertisements and commentary. Keep the apearance of your business card up to date. After all, you are in a very visible industry.spots your cosmetics

Any advice on starting a cake decorating business please please? What are the basic equipments i would require
I want to start with party cakes but i have no idea how to begin.Any advice on starting a cake decorating business please please? What are the basic equipments i would require
first off, learn the different types of cakes to be used, than the different types of icings. Than you have to have a bit of imagination, plus how to operate a business.Watching the cakes and how easy they are to do on TV is totally different in real life.they do everything in one hour on TV, in real time may take a week to do the same thing.Any advice on starting a cake decorating business please please? What are the basic equipments i would require
A basic hygiene certificate to cover yourself. An oven, some good baking tins, ingredients, some good cake recipe books, and advert in the paper or local shop and away you go.
Firstly Create A business plan,
Who are your customers, What are you selling?
And so on and so forth.
Then get your Basic Food Hygeine cert.
And you could also speak to your bank manager... Some banks offer advice... or know where to send you.
Best advice though is to start very locally
As in friends family.
Word of mouth will help a lot
the best answer i can give you is to go to the library with paper and pen. go to the cook book section and spend a day taking notes. not only will you learn what equipment is needed you will also get an idea of some of the techniques used. check some of the better books out and go home and try out some of the stuff in the books. for the basic stuff you don't even need to bake a cake. turn a round cake pan upside down and decorate the bottom. basic tools are fairly cheap at wal-mart. get the cheapest you can find. 20-30 bucks worth of decorating tools plus cost of frosting ingredients and you can try out a wide variety of things.

At certain stage you need to visit your customers and prospect and show them samples to get better response price and payment mode like advance payment by TT etc (instead of L/C payment).

I need advice on turning a great business idea into a reality.?
I have no idea where to start. I have had a brilliant business idea that I believe could become very successful given the right planning and circumstances but I have no idea how to get this off the ground. Who should I tell? Where can I get advice?I need advice on turning a great business idea into a reality.?
Citizen advice bureau
or however you spell it
they should help you
credit crunch or no credit crunchI need advice on turning a great business idea into a reality.?
Start at the beginning and just put one foot in front of the other. Try and write a simple business plan. Just start with the idea and expand it to include the things necssary to get it off the ground. Who would buy the product or service? What woukld it require to make it or provide it? How much would it cost? How and what would it take to grow? How much would people pay to have it? How big is the potential market? Would you need staff initially? What are the potential problems?
You could do with help from someone close to you that is trustworthy and as keen as you on the plan and could contribute in areas where you may be lacking. Good luck!
The best place for advice in the UK is Business Link. They offer free help and information when starting or thinking about starting in business. (They also help you when you're established.) In most areas, they run a free seminar that goes through everything that you need to think about when starting up.
As has been said elsewhere, the first stage is to draw up a plan of what you're going to do - what you product or service is, the costs of supplying it, who your target market is, how you're going to reach them and your projected sales. You'll need to think about all the other costs like premises, salaries, insurance, utilities and advertising.
Be careful who you tell about your idea. Working with Business Link is confidential. We asked someone some years ago to help with an idea. He charged us a lot of money upfront for putting together a website that never materialised and a couple of years later he had the cheek to approach us with a business proposal that included what we had been trying to do!
Good luck with your venture!
it all depends on the business is it a product that needs making and designing if so you would need to look into this more first.. if its a business do you need a premises or would it be mobile? If you have a premises or are working from home in the uk you would have to see about planning permission for change of use if it hasnt been used as a place of business before or for a while.. if you need funding and are in the uk you could go see the princes trust people they give low interest loans to those who cannot get one elsewhere and if your lucky a grant.. of course you can see your bank also.. it all depends on the type of business which obviously you dont want to stick online if its something you have to make or whatever and the skills you need if you do want to get intouch im happy to help in anyway i can..
credit crunch wheres your abition ignore that i run my own business and im sure you know you need to make sure you have enough set away to make sure it gets you through atleast the first year as all things takle time to get of the ground. If you have the drive abition and know how go for it
Whilst James D COULD be right, if it's a money saving idea this might well be the very climate to introduce something innovative. Initially, I would suggest taking legal advice on this. Some solicitors offer a free consultation on your first visit.
most areas have a guild of small businesses or see a small business advisor attached to the bank.
great ideas are hard to come by , just like revenue in the credit crunch, wrong time unfortunately

How do you open a successful business of trading cards? Any advice?
I want to open a business that sells different kinds of trading cards (baseball, football, etc......) are there any specific ways to opening one, and where do I get my inventory?? I'm only in high school at the time but I feel that this is what I would like to do in my life......And also what should my major be in college if I want to open my own business?? Thanks! How do you open a successful business of trading cards? Any advice?
Nice question, and if you wanna startup your own business regardless of doing trading cards, you should definintely go into Business Management or Entreprenuerialship (Which is normally a part of Business Management). About the trading cards, Im in college and really cards have been suffering. However, I worked in the rare coin industry and that worked (I know boring!). I also found out theres a grading company for trading cards, so if your cards are in excellent condition and you have some rare ones you should send those into a grading service so the former price will almost certainly rise. If you can find a way to market cards like they were 10 years ago where everone got them and wanted more you should come up with a really unique way to get them back into becoming interested. Hope this helpsHow do you open a successful business of trading cards? Any advice?
thanks, and good luck with it.
Try obtaining your cards on Ebay, I bought some once for like 10 cents per hundred... not too bad huh? It depends on how bad someone wants to get rid of them. I would also suggest that you major in Business Management.

don,t do the retail thing you will loose but if you must it will always be location location
The trading card industry has taken a huge hit over the past decade due mostly to eBay. I suggest, if you are sure that a sports trading card business is what you want to do, work with eBay and open an online business.
nobody does tradin cards now you should probably pick something else.

try http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/StoreLocatorV鈥?/a> for a store locator. You might be out of luck, depending on how far you want to travel. There's several near me, in PA.
I went to the Kmart website and put in Dallas, TX, then just kept upping the miles until I hit 130 miles, and then it listed two stores:

What's your best advice on starting a retail business?
I am planning to open an gift gallerie in October in an upscale shopping center. What's your best advice on starting a retail business?
One of the most important things you can do is to write a thorough business plan. This will force you to take the time to plan your marketing, sales strategy, and how your business will be run. Most importantly, it will help you forecast your cash flow and inventory which is critical for a retail business.
You can get help with your business plan from these sources:
SBA - http://www.sba.gov/
Bplans.com - http://www.bplans.com/
SCORE - http://www.score.org/
Good Luck! What's your best advice on starting a retail business?
1. Do the right type of advertising.
2. Set the place up with contemporary accessories, with a modern look (my friends an interior designer shes always tellin me how to decorate my house)
3. Dont stuff it with too much merchandise, just keep it moderate.
4. Computerize everything and I mean EVERYTHING. (merchandise coding, invoices, etc.)
5. You dont have to make it like walmart just have one counter with a computer on it and check people out there.
Well thats all I can think of,
Good Luck and if you need my friends number for design ideas just email me.
be ready to work 24/7 and never take a vacation again...
the best thing is if u have the buget then u need to start the cafe or a small business like distributor of cell phones in ur area or take the agency of some goods this will be goood

Does anyone have any advice on starting a small business?
I love working with people and need to be my own boss. Can I start something with little money and build my way up? I have about a grand to put into it. I'm open to any ideas.Does anyone have any advice on starting a small business?
Don't get some big loan going. Make it pay it's way from day one.Does anyone have any advice on starting a small business?
Don't know what you can do with a grand, but I wouldn't start until I had enough in savings to pay my bills and live for 6 months. Maybe you could start something small on the side, and keep your regular job for a while. It really sucks when your business fails and you don't even have enough money for next month's rent.
Do lots of research on whatever you do find. 50% of small businesses fail in 6 months, and 80% fail after one year. 5 year is like 90%. Find out what you are getting into, first, then work your butt off. You can do it, but it isn't easy.

Do you have any business ideas?
It is good you are thinking about becoming your own boss and all that, but you need an initial plan and evaluate if starting a business is your cup of tea. Once you determine that, and if you have good ideas, try to get relatives and friends to invest in your venture (1 grand is a bit less, of course, you are the one with the ideas, so you will know). To sell your idea you will need a business plan. A business plan is good for you (it is a roadmap for you) and also to people who will be funding you (it is a message to them that you have a roadmap for you).
Of course, there are legalities like applying for your Tax Id Number with the federal gov. and registering your company with your state's Secretary of State's office.
After that you will learn on your own, as your business grows.
You can do a lot with a grand online. Go to http://ewebsmith.com for some ideas.
What about marketing Beef Jerky? email me if this interests you theres a big markup from wholesale to retail.

Can anyone help me, I want to start my own small Greeting Card Business and wanted some advice?
If you are in the US, there are two things to do first:
Before you get started, read a little book by Michael Barber entitled ';The E Myth';. It describes why about 95% of small businesses fail within five years, and what you can do to prevent it.
Find your local Small Business Administration office. They are listed in the yellow pages or at http://www.SBA.gov The SBA has counselors that will help you create a *business plan* that will be your road map to success. That business plan is what everything else will hang on - it will tell you when you can expect to start actually making money (you'll be in the red for probably 18 months to 2 years), what your growth plan is, who your clientele will be, how you will market your greeting cards, how you will produce them, what you'll need to make the business go, how you'll advertise, etc.
Remember - just because you're creative and artistic and can produce some prototypes does not mean you understand how to make the thousands of cards it takes to actually make a living at this. And, designing and making cards will be a very small part of your day. You'll spend most of it running the business and marketing your wares.spots your cosmetics

Need serious advice about a new concept in business鈥?
I live in India and I am working for a company which provides online tuitions to students of USA.
Company is planning to start Online Teaching of Indian dishes/recipes. In this new concept, people will book sessions in advance. Best of the Chefs will teach them practically by using Skype and Web Camera (Audio+Video).
I want your opinion. Do you think people will pay to learn Indian Dishes? During my trips in various countries I have noticed that so many people love Indian Food (curries etc.) but will they like to pay to learn it?
Serious replies please鈥︹€?Need serious advice about a new concept in business鈥?
In the USA we have a LOT of cooking shows for free. In addition, there is the Food Network, which is cooking shows 24 hours a day.
Since so much is available for free, I think it would be difficult to find enough people willing to pay that would make it worth your time.Need serious advice about a new concept in business鈥?
i dont think so but who knows, you can but try
Most people will find skype and webcam hard to set up in their kitchen and a barrier to learning how to cook a dish.
Indian food is very popular in So. California. I think people would like to learn how to cook the dishes. My feeling/opinion - people would rather have hands-on training, rather than video lessons. Perhaps you could market/sell Indian cooking lessons for the computer, i.e. software program? I wish you success.
I am sorry but probably no.
honestly.....i LOVE to cook, sometimes gourmet. i cannot picture myself paying to watch a video cooking lesson. anyone that is an avid cook would not pay to go to cooking class as hey already know what they need to know about cooking and the ';dishes'; could be searched for on the Internet for free. I don't see the video aspect of your concept taking off as a fresh and customer catching idea. that and the fact that Indian food is mildly popular in restaurants and hasn't really caught on in the ';cooking world';
I probably wouldn't pay for a class because there is so much good info available free on the web. Sorry! Interesting theory though.

not to burst your bubble but between pbs and the food network and local programing why would someone pay to get what they get basically for free.......Need serious advice about a new concept in business鈥?
Seriously, No. The reason for my opinion is that the American people, which I am one, have a diverse taste, we like to have something different all the time, there are so many cultures here that give us the opportunity to try those different tastes. To pay to be taught one cultures dishes, I don't think so, not when if we get the craving, we can go pick-up a cook book. Good Luck
Yes. Yes they will pay - but not too much. If you market to culinary students and special interest groups (like Indian culture social groups, belly dancing clubs, etc.) it really could work. I wouldn't go above $19.99 a class, though. Or maybe you'd have a curriculum with 15 classes all in a package price or something. You want this to be a fun thing for a group to do - or a lesson supply for culinary teachers and Indian restaurant chefs you could technically charge more for professional people who will make money with the dish. Or maybe charge a membership fee and all lessons are $5 a class after that...

I am looking to start a importing/exporting business. Could i get some advice/tips from anyone in the industry?
I am still doing research on it, but would appreciate it if anyone in the industry or in the know could share any tips. I haven't studied it, i am starting totally from scratch but it is something i am very keen on. I have worked in distributorship business where we brought products from another country to market in the UK, so i know a bit about that, if it helps. Hope to hear from you. I am hoping to make this my own business, which is my ideal scenario.I am looking to start a importing/exporting business. Could i get some advice/tips from anyone in the industry?
http://businessproposalinfo.blogspot.com…I am looking to start a importing/exporting business. Could i get some advice/tips from anyone in the industry?
Firstly, what is it you're importing and exporting? Check with the government department that handles imp/exp. Certain imports and exports require licenses. Also check on the documentation required. Export in most countries usually requires some dedicated paperwork for each country and for each good or product. Your documentation may include health certificates, certification that there are no natural resources being moved between countries that haven't been treated for 'travellers', check on quarantine restrictions and documentation etc. Also you'll need to know what paperwork you need to have to import and get goods cleared.
Secondly, talk to a freight forwarder in your country. Someone who knows what costs are related to shipping(airfreight and/or seafreight) docs, and what the requirements are for your goods.
Thirdly see what companies offer export/import finance insurance. These are companies that offer insurance so if your customer doesn't pay, you still get paid.
So, to the research, where do you start? Answer is, you first need to find someone that you trust, that you can work with, and that they are committed to your success. Every opportunity has someone, or some team sitting at the top of the power-leg structure, their financial success depends on your success, and so there is your starting point. Search out blogs, articles and websites where you can “join the dots”, it will all make sense when you find it. Do not be taken in by the “get rich quick” schemes, most of these are either illegal or just downright scams.
Difficult to start any brick and morter business right, almost impossible to get seed money, unless of course you are loaded :-)
check this website as an alternative, good solid biz, great potential, and you can import as much as you like to build your very own business.

I am a tile setter in Asheville NC an am looking to start my own business any advice?
You can do the obvious things: render good service--they've already been answered by others.
If you must do a business plan (cuz consultants think their cool), keep it flexible and keep it down to a paragraph. Your only plan should to be to serve a market with your skills in an manner beneficial to both you and your client. Update and alter it after any learning event.
When starting a business, your enemy is Sleep. Most self-employed people will agree with me on this, unless they inherited their capital, or won a lottery. Watch the health. Self-employment is a marathon and health insurance is expensive.
MOST IMPORTANT--Get a good tax preparer who specializes in small businesses. People pay you to perform your tile art; keeping up with tax codes will probably frustrate and anger any craftsman. Accountants are a self-employed person's best friend. A/R is critical to your survival; prompt payment of your A/P will gain you respect and good PR throughout your local industry.
Good luck and go for it. Self-employment has its own intangible fulfillmen, even if you don't get rich.I am a tile setter in Asheville NC an am looking to start my own business any advice?

I would like to get into pharmaceutical sales. Do you have any advice for getting into the business?
I am 31 years old and have 10 years sales experience. I do not have a degree, but I have recently returned to school to complete the final year of my Bachelors. Is it possible to become employed in Pharma sales without a degree? If so, how do I go about my search?I would like to get into pharmaceutical sales. Do you have any advice for getting into the business?
Are you a gorgeous female? If not, you can forget it. I saw on TV a few months ago on how pharmaceutical companies hire former Miss America winners/contestants and the like to sell for them so they can go into Dr.'s offices and flirt with them.I would like to get into pharmaceutical sales. Do you have any advice for getting into the business?
A college degree is not required for pharamaceutical sales, unless things have changed recently. A good sales track record and reliability will be your strongest points. Look up the main companies and contact each of them.
apply to the companies and tell them that you are completeing your degree and see if they will hire you. I know most would like a bachelors degree, but yuo can still apply you have quite a bit of sales years so they might give you a chance and hey you might get some tuitio reimbursment with that as well.

It is possible (but very unlikely) to get a job in pharma sales without a degree.
Referals from pharma sales reps are your best chance.
Well, I have a number of friends who were in pharmaceutical sales. It is a very stressful job, lots of travel. They all eventually quit and did something else. It was good training though.
One thing I think will be helpful is to take a look at the trend. There is a wellness revolution going on. The new opportunity is in wellness not in the sickness industry. People are getting fed up with the high cost of pharmaceutical drugs and the fact that there are so many side effects. You seem to be fairly young, if you are researching into your career options, I would recommend taking a look at a couple interesting books by Paul Zane Pilzer, the Wellness Revolution. There is a lot of opportunity in this emerging trend for sales people.
I am a Chemical Engineer by training, and have a couple of my own business. I think it is critically important to look at the trends moving forward, not just what has happened in the past only. Feel free to email me.

Contact a good drug rep. they will lead the way,, oh yes great money, perks, bonus's and tieing up the doctors time.
Nope, you need your 4 year degree
some suggestions for getting into that line of work.
very very competitive and lucrative job. you will need an edge.
here it is: 1.)be attractive; 2.) don't be unattractive; 3.) try hard to be good looking
it also helps if you remove any vestiges of your soul.
also, be careful if you get the job, because they have developed a pretty good pharmaceutical sales rep. spray to keep you out of doctors offices and other places where people are actually trying to get things done.
good luck amigo!!!

Any advice on small business construction insurance?
We have insurance that covers sewer line damage but now we are also doing bathrooms and would like to do it all legally.
Anyone doing small construction jobs out there and usually use crews of 2 or 3.
What type of insurance? What type of annual premiums?Any advice on small business construction insurance?
Residential/Commercial insurance will be very expensive. Rates can be anywhere from 15K to 50K. Check with your insurance agent and see what type policy you have. The best to get is $2 Million on your G/L Aggregate and get it ';per project'; on your Products-Comp Op aggregate limits. If you cannot get $2 Million on your Comp/Op Agg try and get $1 Mil on an Excess/Umbrella. All this depends on your job history and annual revenue. Most important have your agent shop around for you.Any advice on small business construction insurance?
browse this. http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1748196-103鈥?/a>
Wait - you have construction coverage with underground NOW? Can't beat that with a stick! All you probably have to do, is add on a class for interior, and plumbing. You're already being nailed with the minimum premium, so all you REALLY need to do is figure out what the payrolls are for the guys doing those classes, and add the class codes to your current GL policy.
Min. premium for this is usually around $2500, but you'll be over that with your existing exposure, so figure GL rates about 15% of payroll.

Organic beauty products are becoming in demand as more and more people are being educated about how bad chemicals are for them. I am also in the field of health and nutrition (for 30 years now). My biggest challenge was how to market (both online and offline) which is the life blood of any business. What's a business without customers, right?
I looked up this information for you off the website in the source box below. I didn't want to take a lot of room here within the text to type out all I found, but I think if you click on it, you will find the information there invaluable.
Hope this helps.
first thing is you will need a website. or you can easily sell your products on ebay then you dont need to create a website. Just open an ebay store. The type of ownership, you should go down to your local countys office tell them what you are starting and they will help you set everything up. but before you do all this, either build your site or start listing your items on ebay. Then once you start moving lots of volume then go down to your local countys office.
I just put this site together. please check it out and let me now what you think. http://www.eprofitstoday.com Thank you very much.

I own a salon.. My suggestion would be to really do your homework. I know going green is the thing BUT when you meet someone who is really into being green.. What do they look like?? NOT very product friendly..Meaning the MAtrix and the SEXY line along with countles other salon products have tried to go green BUT people who are green are not product junkies! They are almost always a very natural person there fore the idea is a great one but im not sure it's a super idea. I have the line motives in my salon and they have taken steps to become green and eco friendly with their packaging but when someone wants make-up 99% of the time they are already wearing make up and don't care about the enviroment! Just be carful ANDmakesure your company is NOT a MLM company! because selling beauty products on the internet is NOT a great market.. takeit from me clients want to smell and feel those products. If you want more info just e-mail me uniquestylz15131@yahoo.com
To test the ideal market for your product, it would be good to do a ';test'; ad to determine the response that you would receive when selling your products on a full-time basis. If the response is not what you are looking for, you can always change your advertisement copy. Great places to test this out is Craigslist and Ebay. Good Luck!
Take a minute to take the tour.

I am starting a catering business, and need some advice?
I plan on starting a catering service, specializing in southern comfort dishes. What is the best and most cost efficient way to advertise for my business? Does anyone have any dishes that must be on the menu? Please feel free to give me advice on other aspects of the catering business.I am starting a catering business, and need some advice?
First of all, go to your local SBA office and take some businesses classes.
Get a book or two or three on starting a catering business.
Learn exactly what your state and city health department allows or doesn't allow.
Before you even talk about advertising, you have a lot of work to do.
Including creating a business plan.
For a listing of business plan resources, free and paid, visit

As for what should be on the menu... that's something that should be on your business plan i.e. Create a menu by ____.
It's more important what your local market wants and will buy. Vs. asking for menu information here.
There's lot more to running a business, but what I've written here should get you going in the right direction.

yes
The first thing you need to do is create a business plan, the business plan will contain your financial appraisals, eg- profit and loss accounts, financial projections, cash flow analysis, break even period, market analysis of the proposed business. I am very sure if the business plan is accurate, a financial institution will fund your project, who does this business plans? see a business consultant
well i would suggest an accountant. But if you would like to either start accepting credit cards you can go to www.bpiprocessing.com/apply.html and that will open about 60% more profit for your business.

I'm starting a dog poop pick up business and would like some advice on others who have done the same thing?
How do you get your customers? What do you charge? How can I lead my business towards success?I'm starting a dog poop pick up business and would like some advice on others who have done the same thing?
Take a look at these:

Scratching my head in a ';don't believe this'; way. lol.

I need your input on this ???
I鈥檓 also trying to get ideas for a log. Let me know if you have any good ideas
Thanks for your timeJust getting my business going need your advice on business cards?
After all, you are in a very visible industry.spots halloween makeup

20-30 bucks worth of decorating tools plus cost of frosting ingredients and you can try out a wide variety of things.
you need skill and money

I'm from Bangladesh and an exporter of raw-materials to China. Previously we would send the samples by courier service after our initial contacts were established by searching through google, yahoo and such search engine with phrase like ';Handicraft + China';.
At certain stage you need to visit your customers and prospect and show them samples to get better response price and payment mode like advance payment by TT etc (instead of L/C payment).
Please go to the following websites and post your Seller Profile:

Wish you all the luck!

Im 18 years old, 19 ina week, and im considering buying myself a business, but need advice?
I am actually very smart, and a lot of common sense, so i dont fall into stupid mistakes.
i want to buy a club or bar but this could be really expensive and i was wondering can you mortgage the amount needed for buying? say 2.7 million?Im 18 years old, 19 ina week, and im considering buying myself a business, but need advice?
The bank is going to want to see your substantial equity in the business.
So if the purchase price is 2.7, figure on (roughly) 1.35 million (or more) put in by you, not borrowed !Im 18 years old, 19 ina week, and im considering buying myself a business, but need advice?
Not sure where you are so don't even know if you would be allowed in a bar at 18 or 19.
Here is a checklist for you to help you decide if you have what it takes to run a business: http://www.bullseyecareerblogs.com/2009/鈥?/a>
One of the things successful business owners do is bring an accountant and a lawyer on board immediately. This is a question for an accountant and I hope one will answer you assuming you have some property you can mortage.
Good luck.
well first of all to get a mortgage for 2.7 million you or someone you know that signs with you would have to make at least then 1 million or more a year to even qualify for such a thing
