Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?

I am starting a new job on Tuesday. It requires me to set and conduct my own sales appointments at local businesses. I will be needing either a PDA / smartphone, or a PDA. What Verizon phone is a good combo of phone / PDA? Not just the most expensive, but the most useable and user friendly. I know they have TONS of choices, I just don't have any personal experience with them. Any advice / opinions would be great.Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?
I had the Audiovox pocket pc vx6700, a neat phone but it was slow. It did do everything though and still browsed the web. It also synced with outlook express to keep my appointments. They also did just come out with a Blackberry phone that will also work outside of the US. Depending on your work travel you may want to consider that as you'll be able to make calls from anywhere.Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?
I prefer (and own) the Palm Treo 700p with Verizon service. Unlike the Blackberrys, you can download and add third-party software such as databases.

[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?

I want to know more about international business. Give me some advice and pointers please

What are some of the things I need to learn in high school?

what were some difficulties?

What top-notch universities do you recommend?

What do you do at work?

How much do you get paid?[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?
I work for a foreign owned business with offices here in the U.S. I'll be happy to try and answer your questions as my degree from college is in International Relations and Diplomacy.

Basically you need a solid business understanding to begin with. Understand the basic concepts of business - accounting, management, administration.

To work in international business, or in international companies you need to understand protocol, you need to be ready to have an understanding of other countries and how business operates in that country. The difference in cultures can be challenging some times, and you have to be patient and be ready to take a step back, take a deep breath and then try to work through the differences and difficulties. The most challenging thing to deal with is the language barrier and the cultural differences. But after working here for over 8 years I would not want to work elsewhere.

I would make sure that which ever college you choose has a wide choice in International Law, Business, and Culture classes to give you a good exposure. Also, if they have a good international student ratio of attendees that is a bonus.

I work in H.R. for my company, and would rather not state salary as it will vary depending on the industry you choose, the size of your company, and your level of responsibility with the company. (Do you supervise people? How much responsibility for day to day operations do you have?)[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?
I don't know why no one has answered this question..... maybe ask it again in a different section?

I am in college, an international relations major looking into international business.

My recommendations are:

definitely study abroad. what ever area you are interested in, go there for at least a year.

In high school, take language classes (btw Chinese and Arabic are the new ';hip'; languages to learn..you will get a job in a second with them), business classes if you have any, world history is also very important when working in other areas of the world. Good communication skills are necessary too.

I don't know of any difficulties, maybe finding a good job? If you want a job with another non English speaking country, be sure you are fluent in their language (knowing more than one language will help you get a job very quickly)

Education wise, just get a general education in high school with the comments I made above, when you get to college you can major in a lot of things (I would recommend international relations, economics, a foreign language, accounting, management, or finance) a lot of things will get you into international business.

I would recommend my own school (Syracuse University) because we have a pretty good international relations program and a good business school (Whitman School of Management). but any good undergraduate school would be good...tufts, harvard etc... check out US News %26amp; World Reports Best Colleges. i think anything in the top 100 would be fine for undergrad.

Then you do a business degree (although I have heard that this is not always necessary if you can get the experience). Go to what ever school you like, not only the tops ones are good, but some of the top ones are: Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Duke, University of Chicago, Wharton (at the University of Pennsylvania), Kellogg (at Northwestern), Massachusetts Institute of Technolog

Money I have no idea, I put some links at the bottom that you can look at. i'm sure it depends on the job, cause international business is still pretty broad.

I hope I was helpful!

Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?

I am a college student starting a business. I am looking for local companies to advertise in the area...

I am wondering if you would be willing to share some advice -- what are you looking for in an advertisement, and what would make you buy? Also, any tips that you have used in the past.

I would love to email you about this, so please let me know if this is possible.

Thanks so much!Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?

There are so many different people that hit us up for advertising that we only stick with the large well known ones.

I can't tell you how many startups have approached us and haven;t been around for long.

It is going to be tough for you, the odds are against you but all of the successful ones started off just like you.

There are a number of things to take into consideration when researching starting a business.

1. Best Practices - find someone who is doing it and IS SUCCESSFUL (who won't feel like you are going to be their competition). Talk to them about it and ask them questions. You want to be sure to talk to people who know what they are doing. You don't want to be learning from the people who don't know how to do it right.

2. Legal issues - check with your local city, county and state for any legal issues you need to deal with (licensing, permits, inspections...)

3. Equipment - Find a good place to get the equipment and supplies you will need. See the link below for starters.

4. Remember - Free advice is just that ';free'; so get ideas from more than one source and use your own judgement.

My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?

My accountant was always really good up until this year when he kind of went off the deep end with some personal issues. He assured me that he'd file my business return on time and when he didn't he assured me that he filed an extension. Today I received notice from the IRS that there was not an extension filed and that I owe $450 due to my return being filed 3 months late.

What recourse do I have? Will the IRS take into consideration that my accountant failed to do his job and basically lied to me about filing the extension and possibly reduce/waive the penalty? Do I have legal recourse against my now former accountant? Any sound advice would be most appreciated.

thanks. My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?
If your accountant is a person of honor he will pay the penalty amount, but the tax amount is yours to pay. If he refuses to pay it, your only real option is to sue him in small claims court. You could also try reporting him to the state cpa society if he is a cpa.My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?
You owed taxes. Didn't you know that? Filing an extension is not an extension to pay. If the return was filed late because of the preparer, you could have asked the preparer to pay the failure to file penalty, which would be 15% of the balance due on the return.

But since you have fired him, you will have to sue him. I don't think you can expect to recover all the charges. Even if the extension was filed on time, you would still owe the failure to pay penalty and interest.
Legally, you are liable for the penalty. If the accountant is a decent person, he/she would pay it. I would use a different accountant next year.
The IRS won't get involved - the return was late, it's your return, so you owe them the penalty. You can state your case and request that the penalty be waived, but don't count on it.

Your accountant should actually cover the penalty for you ethically. You could always try small claims court if he won't make it right, but you might or might not win, and might have trouble actually collecting it if his life is that screwed up.

Good luck.
Pay the $450.00 and ask for a refund from the CPA. You could ask for forgiveness for the penalty. You could file a complaint with the CPA certification/association board.
I don't know a lot about his, but I'd think you'd have some kind of legal recourse against your accoutant. He is the one who screwed everthing up and incured these extra charges. He needs to learn to leave his personal issues at home and not bring them to the office. Sometimes it can be hard, but it has to be done. Especially when it comes to something as important as someones taxes. I would suggest getting a lawyer and finding out what you can legally do.
The IRS is under no obligation to abate the penalty, but I would respond with a letter explaining the situation and get your return filed ASAP. For a larger amount, it could be worth suing your CPA.
sue the accoutant for 450 dollars plus compensation, you can do that.
I believe you just have to pay the penalty. I'd fire the accountant though.
talk to irs

get a new accountant like me for example newlife209@sbcglobal.net

Here this guy is again the biznessman - sorry anyway Grants might not be your best bet right now,

i don't know what market you're in but chances are if you drive around you can see plenty of vacant retail space - you can negotiate your terms For Example Get the first 6months distributed over a 36 month lease, you can ask for ';free'; but this would be more attractive to the leaser

    - just have a business-model overview or executive summary ( a sheet of paper explaining what company you are trying to start and what makes you think it'll work)

You can also enter into a billing agreement with your suppliers (90-120 days for example)

and get the fixtures from another small retail business on there way out.Starting a business needs some advice?

Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?

I am applying to business school....

And having issues with my personal statement. They ususally say to get personal, but how can I market myself as a professsional by complaining and writing personal sob stories? Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school application will be greatly appreciatedAny pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?
Sob stories are bad. What they want is instances where you identified a problem, researched possible solutions, considered the cost/benefits of each, planned and executed a strategy, and evaluated your results.

Say your mom murdered your dad, and your siblings were killed in a meth lab explosion. You were sent to an abusive foster home. Yet you managed to graduate college and are applying to B-school. How did you get from sob story to the decision to go to school? What steps did you take? What resources did you manage to pull yourself up and out? How has it shaped you? What can you contribute to the experiences of your future classmates?

It's not that you had a bad life. But every mogul's autobiography starts with how life sucked and their strength of will and determination brought them greatness.Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?
Talk about your motivations, what drives you to succeed. You can do this without BS, which they readily detect, think of your positives, and weave a brief, succint account. What do you aspire to do or achieve, why, what in you makes you think you can achieve it(Hint: if you don't think you can, noone else will either:-) ) Perception is everything...so use your personal statement to create the picture to your advantage. Good luck Shyone!
