i only need the basic advice and any additional advice that you feel is needed. i want to start my own website which enables a programe that allows customers to book/cancel appointments. more worried about them booking then cancel. please can someone advice of a web host that has this programe or of some downloads i can i buy or download for free to add this to my websiteStarting my own business. I have used Freewebs and found it reasonably good, but not the best. As a matter of interest it is owned by Paypal





For my main website I use SBI which I find very versatile and a good host for an expanding business site. You can set up forms etc. for taking orders, subscriptions and contacting your customers.

It depends on how much you think you will have to rely on the website. There are many cheap hosts out there, but the problem is that they can often be very slow at peak times, especially if they are shared servers.





A dedicated server may be more suitable if you are going to be dependant on the websites performance and reliability.





You'll probably have to hire someone to set up your desired system. This could become costly, but then again there are some freelance websites that allow you to post your requirements and needs and price you will be willing to pay someone to carry out the necessary work on your website. You should then get a response from a potential freelancer:

If you know what you are doing you could go to somewhere like http://www.sourceforge.net and find a free project that someone has written under the GNU license for public use. You would then need to install this onto your webserver and configure it. There are many PHP projects out there.

Or you could even try using and embedding Google Calender into your website - that could be a really easy option. But there would of course be limitations.

My company started it's website at freewebs.com. It lets you create, add links, etc... It is completely free because they do some advertising on your pages. Once you make the website more your own as far as domain names, then cost kickis in. So far we have paid $6.00 and our website is www.divineeventsandweddings.webs.com. I think this will save your life!!! :-)

In order to get it running you must ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE. Though alot of advertisement places try getting you to pay a fortune, it is hard sometimes to make it if you don't know the right place to look. Next, you also need the proper support system. A network of people. Some networks have thousands upon thousands of people who run their own businesses and websites who are actually willing to lend a free hand, and I do mean FREE. They're not like the people you see out there who say, ';I'll tell you my secret of how I made it happen, but for this amount of money.'; Then it turns out to be bogus. Direct Matches is a really great network to be involved in. I'm involved with them, it is wonderful.





Working on-line at your own thing, especially your own website, does not mean you have to be an absolute computer wiz. There are professionals, newbies, and just your average person. There are all sorts of people out there working the net and their own websites and on-line businesses.
