I am starting a new job on Tuesday. It requires me to set and conduct my own sales appointments at local businesses. I will be needing either a PDA / smartphone, or a PDA. What Verizon phone is a good combo of phone / PDA? Not just the most expensive, but the most useable and user friendly. I know they have TONS of choices, I just don't have any personal experience with them. Any advice / opinions would be great.Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?
I had the Audiovox pocket pc vx6700, a neat phone but it was slow. It did do everything though and still browsed the web. It also synced with outlook express to keep my appointments. They also did just come out with a Blackberry phone that will also work outside of the US. Depending on your work travel you may want to consider that as you'll be able to make calls from anywhere.Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?
I prefer (and own) the Palm Treo 700p with Verizon service. Unlike the Blackberrys, you can download and add third-party software such as databases.

[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?
I want to know more about international business. Give me some advice and pointers please
What are some of the things I need to learn in high school?
what were some difficulties?
What top-notch universities do you recommend?
What do you do at work?
How much do you get paid?[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?
I work for a foreign owned business with offices here in the U.S. I'll be happy to try and answer your questions as my degree from college is in International Relations and Diplomacy.
Basically you need a solid business understanding to begin with. Understand the basic concepts of business - accounting, management, administration.
To work in international business, or in international companies you need to understand protocol, you need to be ready to have an understanding of other countries and how business operates in that country. The difference in cultures can be challenging some times, and you have to be patient and be ready to take a step back, take a deep breath and then try to work through the differences and difficulties. The most challenging thing to deal with is the language barrier and the cultural differences. But after working here for over 8 years I would not want to work elsewhere.
I would make sure that which ever college you choose has a wide choice in International Law, Business, and Culture classes to give you a good exposure. Also, if they have a good international student ratio of attendees that is a bonus.
I work in H.R. for my company, and would rather not state salary as it will vary depending on the industry you choose, the size of your company, and your level of responsibility with the company. (Do you supervise people? How much responsibility for day to day operations do you have?)[from a high school student] I need advice from people who have career in International Business?
I don't know why no one has answered this question..... maybe ask it again in a different section?
I am in college, an international relations major looking into international business.
My recommendations are:
definitely study abroad. what ever area you are interested in, go there for at least a year.
In high school, take language classes (btw Chinese and Arabic are the new ';hip'; languages to learn..you will get a job in a second with them), business classes if you have any, world history is also very important when working in other areas of the world. Good communication skills are necessary too.
I don't know of any difficulties, maybe finding a good job? If you want a job with another non English speaking country, be sure you are fluent in their language (knowing more than one language will help you get a job very quickly)
Education wise, just get a general education in high school with the comments I made above, when you get to college you can major in a lot of things (I would recommend international relations, economics, a foreign language, accounting, management, or finance) a lot of things will get you into international business.
I would recommend my own school (Syracuse University) because we have a pretty good international relations program and a good business school (Whitman School of Management). but any good undergraduate school would be good...tufts, harvard etc... check out US News %26amp; World Reports Best Colleges. i think anything in the top 100 would be fine for undergrad.
Then you do a business degree (although I have heard that this is not always necessary if you can get the experience). Go to what ever school you like, not only the tops ones are good, but some of the top ones are: Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Duke, University of Chicago, Wharton (at the University of Pennsylvania), Kellogg (at Northwestern), Massachusetts Institute of Technolog
Money I have no idea, I put some links at the bottom that you can look at. i'm sure it depends on the job, cause international business is still pretty broad.
I hope I was helpful!

Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?
I am a college student starting a business. I am looking for local companies to advertise in the area...
I am wondering if you would be willing to share some advice -- what are you looking for in an advertisement, and what would make you buy? Also, any tips that you have used in the past.
I would love to email you about this, so please let me know if this is possible.
Thanks so much!Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?
My friend Nikki Leigh wrote the #1 book in America on Restaurant management. Just google her name. Find her, she'll tell you where to get it - she is very nice and will talk to you.Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?
There are so many different people that hit us up for advertising that we only stick with the large well known ones.
I can't tell you how many startups have approached us and haven;t been around for long.
It is going to be tough for you, the odds are against you but all of the successful ones started off just like you.

Hi Deb Kavanagh, You can get free full advice from the dog kennel business owners themselves, in fact look in your local phone book or online for these businesses and go and see them personally. As in this way is the most appropriate way as then they can give you tips, the ups and downs of the business and maybe other ways to make you succeed. Its best to find the business owners who have been running the dog kennel business for most of there life as they can give you there vast experience of information.Or you can go to your local R.S.P.C.A for advice and assistance.I hope this all helps you and i deeply hold that you become hugely successful and find real joy in your new business and life itself. My highest blessings always DarrenI'm researching the possibility of starting dog kennel business, where can i go to get free full advice ?
There are a number of things to take into consideration when researching starting a business.
1. Best Practices - find someone who is doing it and IS SUCCESSFUL (who won't feel like you are going to be their competition). Talk to them about it and ask them questions. You want to be sure to talk to people who know what they are doing. You don't want to be learning from the people who don't know how to do it right.
2. Legal issues - check with your local city, county and state for any legal issues you need to deal with (licensing, permits, inspections...)
3. Equipment - Find a good place to get the equipment and supplies you will need. See the link below for starters.
4. Remember - Free advice is just that ';free'; so get ideas from more than one source and use your own judgement.

My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?
My accountant was always really good up until this year when he kind of went off the deep end with some personal issues. He assured me that he'd file my business return on time and when he didn't he assured me that he filed an extension. Today I received notice from the IRS that there was not an extension filed and that I owe $450 due to my return being filed 3 months late.
What recourse do I have? Will the IRS take into consideration that my accountant failed to do his job and basically lied to me about filing the extension and possibly reduce/waive the penalty? Do I have legal recourse against my now former accountant? Any sound advice would be most appreciated.
thanks. My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?
If your accountant is a person of honor he will pay the penalty amount, but the tax amount is yours to pay. If he refuses to pay it, your only real option is to sue him in small claims court. You could also try reporting him to the state cpa society if he is a cpa.My accountant failed to file my business return on time and I now owe a penalty. Any good advice?
You owed taxes. Didn't you know that? Filing an extension is not an extension to pay. If the return was filed late because of the preparer, you could have asked the preparer to pay the failure to file penalty, which would be 15% of the balance due on the return.
But since you have fired him, you will have to sue him. I don't think you can expect to recover all the charges. Even if the extension was filed on time, you would still owe the failure to pay penalty and interest.
Legally, you are liable for the penalty. If the accountant is a decent person, he/she would pay it. I would use a different accountant next year.
The IRS won't get involved - the return was late, it's your return, so you owe them the penalty. You can state your case and request that the penalty be waived, but don't count on it.
Your accountant should actually cover the penalty for you ethically. You could always try small claims court if he won't make it right, but you might or might not win, and might have trouble actually collecting it if his life is that screwed up.
Good luck.
Pay the $450.00 and ask for a refund from the CPA. You could ask for forgiveness for the penalty. You could file a complaint with the CPA certification/association board.
I don't know a lot about his, but I'd think you'd have some kind of legal recourse against your accoutant. He is the one who screwed everthing up and incured these extra charges. He needs to learn to leave his personal issues at home and not bring them to the office. Sometimes it can be hard, but it has to be done. Especially when it comes to something as important as someones taxes. I would suggest getting a lawyer and finding out what you can legally do.
The IRS is under no obligation to abate the penalty, but I would respond with a letter explaining the situation and get your return filed ASAP. For a larger amount, it could be worth suing your CPA.
sue the accoutant for 450 dollars plus compensation, you can do that.
I believe you just have to pay the penalty. I'd fire the accountant though.
talk to irs
get a new accountant like me for example newlife209@sbcglobal.net
sue him in small claims court
prob have to pay it anyway even if you talk to irs about the issueorigins cream treatment

i don't know what market you're in but chances are if you drive around you can see plenty of vacant retail space - you can negotiate your terms For Example Get the first 6months distributed over a 36 month lease, you can ask for ';free'; but this would be more attractive to the leaser
- just have a business-model overview or executive summary ( a sheet of paper explaining what company you are trying to start and what makes you think it'll work)
You can also enter into a billing agreement with your suppliers (90-120 days for example)
and get the fixtures from another small retail business on there way out.Starting a business needs some advice?
grants do not exist for profit seeking biz's.

Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?
I am applying to business school....
And having issues with my personal statement. They ususally say to get personal, but how can I market myself as a professsional by complaining and writing personal sob stories? Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school application will be greatly appreciatedAny pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?
Sob stories are bad. What they want is instances where you identified a problem, researched possible solutions, considered the cost/benefits of each, planned and executed a strategy, and evaluated your results.
Say your mom murdered your dad, and your siblings were killed in a meth lab explosion. You were sent to an abusive foster home. Yet you managed to graduate college and are applying to B-school. How did you get from sob story to the decision to go to school? What steps did you take? What resources did you manage to pull yourself up and out? How has it shaped you? What can you contribute to the experiences of your future classmates?
It's not that you had a bad life. But every mogul's autobiography starts with how life sucked and their strength of will and determination brought them greatness.Any pointers/advice/experie nce as to how to stay professsional in a business school?
Talk about your motivations, what drives you to succeed. You can do this without BS, which they readily detect, think of your positives, and weave a brief, succint account. What do you aspire to do or achieve, why, what in you makes you think you can achieve it(Hint: if you don't think you can, noone else will either:-) ) Perception is everything...so use your personal statement to create the picture to your advantage. Good luck Shyone!

Any advice on how to project revenue and traffic for a social network website for a business plan?
Obviously, researching borrowing info from similar sites is the first step, but this is proving difficult information to gather.Any advice on how to project revenue and traffic for a social network website for a business plan?
You must break this down into 2 steps:
Step 1: Estimate Traffic - Do this first, since you are not going to get any revenue with any traffic.
How are people going to find the site. I going to guess and say the following 3 ways:
* Web Advertising or Pay per click - ok what is your marketing budget and how much is the average PPC for social networking sites. A monthly budget of $4,500 with a PPC of $0.50 will earn you 9,000 visits per month.
* General web search - Ok first find the common search terms. Go http://www.bruceclay.com/seo/tools.htm. Or use WEB CEO (www.webceo.com) which says there are 1,865 searches for the term ';social networking'; per day. Add up all the searches for the search terms. Next estimate your page ranking. From there you will need to calculate the likelihood that someone will select your site from the others. So if your site is listed on page 1 you might estimate that 10 percent of these users will clicks on your link. If you are only listed on page 10 then you basically have a 0 percent change that the user will click on your site.
* Referrals from existing subscribers - How may subscribers will refer a friend and how many friends will they refer and so on.
Step 2: Estimate Revenue - Your revenue is 100 percent dependant on your traffic. A user can't sign up (and pay you money) unless they are at your website. Same goes for clicking on a advertisement (in which you will earn a commission).
Now that you have estimated the traffic (Step 1). You need to estimate what percentage of your traffic is going to sign up (should be about 2% for PPC and general web search and maybe 30% for referrals ) and what percentage of your traffic is going to click on an advertisement (should be about 1%).
You need an excel spreadsheet to do this.Any advice on how to project revenue and traffic for a social network website for a business plan?
Most of your information will be based on the social community you're going after....
Social-businesses or professionals
Social-social
Social-dating
Social-Christians
Social-relationship
The point is that the projections come from the size of the market and why you're bringing them together to socialize...
then you look at advertisers that want to be in front of your market

I am starting a business a little business on Amazon. How should I keep track of things for taxes? Any advice?
I am starting a business a little business on Amazon. How should I keep track of things for taxes? Any advice on how I should run things, or what software to use. Should I save receipts for the supplies I buy? Any advice on anything please. Thank you!I am starting a business a little business on Amazon. How should I keep track of things for taxes? Any advice?
I suggest you keep all your receipts and track your income and expenses. Definitely keep your receipts (best if you separate business related receipts from your personal receipts)
You can use a simple Excel spreadsheet or use a more sophisticated accounting program such as Quicken for home office. An Excel will do just fine.
Here are things you can deduct and claim as business deduction in your Schedule C come tax time:
- Fees/Commissions Amazon charges you for selling
- Internet access
- Shipping expenses such as postage/stamps, shipping boxes or mailers
- Promotion and advertising expenses you are running
- Office supplies such as papers, pens, calculators
- Equipment such as computers, scanners, fax machines, camera and other equipment you used to run your business
- Gasoline expenses for going to and fro the post office to ship your items
- Books and magazine subscriptions you bought for your business
I suggest you read books such as:
- Deduct It! Lower Your Small Business Taxes, Second Edition Paperback by Stephen Fishman
- J.K. Lasser's Taxes Made Easy for Your Home Based Business, 5th Edition Paperback by Gary W. CarterI am starting a business a little business on Amazon. How should I keep track of things for taxes? Any advice?
Save everything. You will need to file taxes. If the gov't finds out you didn't, you can get heavily fined.

Has anyone any good advice on promoting my mobile hairdressing business?
I am back to my hairdressing in September when my little one starts school. I used to have a great round and gave up to have my daughter. I have kept my hand in and am busy with friends and family, these dont pay the bills though as are all freebies or favours, Any good ideas on me getting clients . Im a bit worried about putting a flier around as it looks desperate....help
HelenHas anyone any good advice on promoting my mobile hairdressing business?
It's a terrific idea. The best way is word of mouth actually.
I would create a card with your info, and an introductory discount. Give them to your clients, and tell them to share them with people they know. When a new client is referred to you by one of your existing clients, reward that client with a discount.
Also, stop giving free-bee's. maybe to your boyfriend or those who you are indebted to, but by doing that your promoting the fact your unprofessional. You have a talent and a skill. You wouldn't expect your plumber friend to spend an hour installing a new sink would you? If he was kind, perhaps he would discount, but a professional wouldn't do it for free.Has anyone any good advice on promoting my mobile hairdressing business?
nothing is wrong with handing out fliers as long as you hand them out to the right places. Go to banquet halls where they hold weddings sand events, tanning salons, nail salons, and cosmetic surgeon offices for starts. Get online for women meet ups in your area as well. You might ant to consider offering seminars to womens clubs, organizations also to pump up the clientele
鈾?Ad in the local paper, maybe. Also, if you do hand out, mail, or put up fliers, one suggestion would be to have a coupon on there, for XXX amount off. People are looking for deals right now.
Create a website and premote your products and findings also takle some photos of ytour styles and [ut them on your site. Domains cost about 1.50-5.50 a year so there are very cheap.

Looking to start my own business and need advice!?
I am currently unemployed in Houston and I am tired of working for other people. I want to start my own business and work for myself. I was trying to think of some ideas of what type of business I can start. I was thinking of opening a hot dog stand or something. Does anyone know of any good small business ideas you can think of that I can start. I really want to start my own business and work my way up. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.Looking to start my own business and need advice!?
You need to learn how to wash windows with a squeegee, bucket and pole. You need to go to everyone you know and ask them for the chance to do their place monthly for 50 cents a pane outside and work on the shadowed side of the buildings. You can do restaurants in trade for food and independently owned gas stations for gas. I did this and drove from so cal to washington and back in the summer of '70 and came home with $350.00 I didn't spend along the way if there was no surf I found windows to wash when I was hungry I washed diners windows in trade for food. a double door all glass at the mall would take an expert 2 minutes to wash spotless that's $30.00 an hourLooking to start my own business and need advice!?
If you want to start your own business, you need to do something you are passionate about, and something that is in demand. The economy offers a lot of opportunities to see what can be done better for less. People are looking for value right now, so if you can provide it, go for it. I have a business that I'm involved in that is awesome, but I can't post anything about it cuz I'll get my answer deleted. You can go into my profile and check out my site or email me directly if you would like. Good luck in whichever venture you decide on!
if you started your own business your would not be working your way up.. because thats exaclty what your trying to avoid right now. i think you should reserach alot more and give this alot of thought. make sure todays economy is in mind when you do this. and think a little bigger then a hit dog stand please. your better then that.

Actually, we ran a 'break truck' business for a long time and it paid very well. Got to be too much as we got older though.
On a hot dog stand they have carts for sale that roast or steam the dogs and keep the buns hot, too and they range in price from used $800 to new 3,000. The carts will hook up to your car or vehicle and can be moved around. They also have carts with deep fryers, ovens etc for varied prices. I would start out by looking the newspaper's want ads first.
Location is so important though. In Houston, do they have hot dog carts on downtown street corners? You need to pick a busy streetcorner. Roasted dogs are best because a) the fragrance and b) you can also steam corn on the cob while roasting dogs.
If they don't do that on the street corners then check out the malls. There is a fee for setting up in the inside mall areas though and sometimes it is just too pricey to make a go of it. There is a hot dog cart in Denver that has $1 dogs for sale and does a stand in line business every lunch. I'm sure he uses the very cheapest hot dogs he can buy and he does have 'better quality' dogs for sale at a bit more money.
If you can find some cart that you can steam several things in though that is best. Cinnamon rolls work good in a steamer as does corn on the cob and BBQ beef sandwiches and pizza works if well pkg'd in foil.
It is fairly easy to get into also with the lower investment fee. But be sure to check out if there are areas that ARE available and how much mall costs would be if needed..etc. You can also usually get permission to come to other gatherings on weekends like Little League games or other local events.
You may as well resign yourself though that you will need a couple thousand dollars to get it going and enough to live on until it really starts to make money.
If you go online to www.sba.gov it gives you a wealth of information on everything you need to know about new business startup, marketing, etc etc and there is also 'local sources' which are a group of retired business people in your area that are willing to advise and help you. They also have a small business chat room.
I found the 'search' their site option to help somewhat. As far as the 'info' you need though to start a business or plan a strategy I think you will find all the answers there and they are free.
Just an aside - you can get into the 'shirt' printing business pretty cheap too. But you have to market, and have someplace to sell them - there is a site on Yahoo Groups at this addy

obviously college first and choosing the right major is important but afterward I'd suggest banking to get a feel for a little bit of everything and then make a decision with experience

I want to start a breeding business. I want to breed freshwater fish (guppies, Betta's), any advice?
I've never had my own business before...but I'd like info on the following.
1. How do I ship tropical fish?
2. Do I need any permits or anything like that?
3. I plan on building my own shelving system to hold my aquariums, does anyone have any tips on how to do that?I want to start a breeding business. I want to breed freshwater fish (guppies, Betta's), any advice?
Start small, sell to local shops. Any profit will need to be put back into your breeding setup.
Avoid shipping if possible, it is expensive and going to be more so in the future with increasing fuel costs. You have to make a name in your local market before anyone will consider buying your product in any money making quantity.
If you do start to make any significant money you will need a federal tax id, and local or state business license. At this point you will probably be using an area the size of a full basement in an average size house. Consider what all the equipment will cost, as well as the monthly utilities.
Building racks is no different than building decks, look up deck carpentry online.
I make a few extra bucks with my setup, there is no way I could quit my full time job. The largest personal setup I have seen had 300 forty breeders on a centralized system, a 300 gallon tub full of bio balls for bio filtration. He was putting out 8,000 to 12,000 angels monthly, and had another part time job to make ends meet.
Unless you own plenty of property in a tropical climate where you can pond breed you are not going to see any real profit.I want to start a breeding business. I want to breed freshwater fish (guppies, Betta's), any advice?
I sure hope you have a lot of money for cost. Quality breeding stock is not cheap. Most companies that ship use fedex or similar services...The more quality you provide(heat packs, puncture proof packaging, etc) the higher the cost is and you may not be able to get people to pay the increase since you are just starting out.
I'm sure there will be local laws requiring some sort of business license. You may even need some kind of hatchery license depending on the area.
Shelving systems may work for storing the bettas since they don't need big tanks. However the bigger the tank the more structural support you'll need. You may end up needing to reinforce your wall studs and floor joists to support the weight of tanks. To do that you have to have permits from the county or they can come in and make you rip it out (personal experience with a remodel nightmare). I'd invest alot of time in research before commiting to this kind of business. Anyone can breed livebearing fish and bettas generally are not all that difficult either, however that doesn't mean that it is profitable by any means. Heck even the local petstores won't take platies from my tank.
Hi. I have been a guppy breeder for over 15 years and i would like to just say that breeding guppies or any type of fish can be a very fun and enjoyable experience. I would highly reccomnend breed the Fancy Guppy over other types of Fresh Water fish. The reason for this is because breeding guppies is actually easier than it seems. I can give you many tips on different strategies you can look for when breeding guppies and also what to avoid. Email us at onlinepetquestions@yahoo.com

There are hundreds of companys (work at home Moms too)out there selling the same thing. A new one pops every day. Ask yourself why is your product different, who is your tarket market? Who are you going to sell to and how. Then write a business plan, set some goals. Go to the department of Revenue (local or online) and get your busines license, BUT a bath and body company can not be just in your kitchen so check with your local Revenue Dept.for the regulations. Your items must be tested and labeled as such, all ingredients must be listed. Then market it like crazy!! Good luck and have fun with it!

i'm in high school right now.Can you give me some advice? is the business field, such as entrepreneur, stockbroker overcrowded?
Entrepreneurs and stockbrockers are completely different. There is no ';field'; of entrepreneurs. A few more stockbrokers wouldn't hurt ... the field isn't saturated.

Any advice on choosing a small business credit card?
I recently began my own business, and a friend recommended applying for a small business credit card. Though I have been using my personal visa and mastercard, she mentioned there are some cards available with fixed rates which work especially with small businesses. Other than American Express and the other major cards, are there any others out there that may be worth a shot?Any advice on choosing a small business credit card?
If you're planning to pay your balance in full each month, then you'll want the credit card (or combination of cards) that will pay you the most for your expected spending profile. That is, how much you expect to spend on office supplies, gasoline, travel, telecom, restaurants, etc.
The quickest way I know to figure out which credit card will pay you the most for your spending profile, is this rewards calculator:
http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/?card_ty鈥?/a>
If you're planning on carrying a balance for a while, then there are some business cards with nice low fixed APR (e.g. Advanta). There are also cards with introductory 0% APRs. You can also browse cards via that web site.

Legal advice for slander of my business?
I am a wedding photographer. Someone is slamming my name and business on ask yahoo and other sites. The info is false, which I can prove . What can I do she is ruining my reputation? Do I have legal action?Legal advice for slander of my business?
ah so you are the guy!
I blasted her here a couple of time I think.
hire a local attorney to send a cease and desist letter. That should take care of it at pretty low cost.Legal advice for slander of my business?
Absolutely - IF you can prove where the slander is coming from and that the comments are false. Can you give me some advice? is the business field, such as entrepreneur, stockbroker overcrowded?
i'm in high school right now.Can you give me some advice? is the business field, such as entrepreneur, stockbroker overcrowded?
Stockbroker maybe. Entrepreneur could never be overcrowded. The Entrepreneur finds opportunities that don't currently exist or does things in new ways.
Go take an introductory business school class at community college is a good start. There you can examine the depth of opportunities. Can you give me some advice? is the business field, such as entrepreneur, stockbroker overcrowded?

I have no idea what form the business will take but I'm determined to do it.

Become an investor if you have liitle to start with. At least that way if you make enough money you can use it to start a real big business of your choice. I'd personally reccommend the internet as mine as the internet has immense business opportunity and is basically a virtual gold mine.
Anyway. Good luck!
As you don't have a big budget, maybe you should
consider staring something online where a big capital
outlay is not necessary.
You should learn something about internet marketing
first. There are plenty of free guides to get you started
before you spend any money. Most newbies promote
some affiliate programs at first. This does not cost
much and it will help get an overall insight into how
making money on the internet works.
Hi Paul
Have you looked into network marketing? It's a fantastic way to start your own business with little investment and no risk. I started my business for æ‹¢120! And its been going strong for over 3 years. You can find out more about network marketing and which companies can offer you this opportunity at www.comparextraincome.com
Up until recently I was a self employed Mortgage Broker. I have been so effected by the economy that I had to look for something else.
I now have my own business which helps people save money.

It costs a couple of hundred to set up, which you can easily get back within 3 months and it can set you up for life if you work hard at it. This is because it carries on building even when you decide you want to retire.
You can do it on a part time basis or whatever you choose.
This is now my full time job and I am doing very well out of it. I intend on retiring in 5 years time which will make me 33 years old. Not many can say that!
Anyone can do this, no experience as you get all the free training you need and if you are interested you get me to help you all the way too!
Your question is very vague and open to a lot of answers. There's many things to think of before starting a business.
What type of business is it? What will you be selling? What's the structure? What's your exit strategy?
Try to be more specific and then perhaps you'll get some decent answers instead of the flood of 'Make $400000 a day' ads, which will spring up all over this question.

I want to start a business on baking cakes. Please advice.?
Thank your lucky stars that the Aitkins diet thing is over. But seriously, think about getting your ';test'; product out on any events that draw hundreds of people at once before investing into equipment, leases and loans. These events can include winter farmers markets, auctions, friends wedding or a simple add on craigslist. Get a sense to see what the climate is like in your area from this ';test'; run.
If this works, then start to do your due diligence by seeing who is making cakes in the area and how they market. Be original and find a niche' of an untapped need and your cake business will grow faster.

i am trying to start a wiccan business here in arkansas. i live in a bible belt i want to ease into the magical part and yet keep open to other religions can anyone help me with vendors and about how much it cost?
thanks

Tarot decks can be bought wholesale from tarotgarden.com You can put out a call for witchy things on any pagan bulletin board, there are artists and crafters there. If you want to soften the impact, you can include a Renaissance/Medieval focus on the shop as well, the SCA is down in the bible belt and you can find local groups to discuss what would be of interest to carry. Dragonmarsh.com out in California does this, 1/2 medieval and 1/2 wiccan/pagan. They have two stores now.
Herbs, books, candles, tarot, pouches, etc. Take a look at the items that New Age stores carry, that'll give you an idea what's of interest. Don't go too Goth or Faerie, those are both sidelines and not part of the main thing you're looking for.
thanks

Need a '; business capable '; Verizon cellphone - advice / opinions?

Any small business/restaurant owners willing to share some advice?
I am a college student starting a business. I am looking for local companies to advertise in the area...
I am wondering if you would be willing to share some advice -- what are you looking for in an advertisement, and what would make you buy? Also, any tips that you have used in the past.
I would love to email you about this, so please let me know if this is possible.

There are so many different people that hit us up for advertising that we only stick with the large well known ones.
I can't tell you how many startups have approached us and haven;t been around for long.

The best advice I can give with only a little information is to try to get into a business that has products you like and that you have some idea about. Then research the market for those products and see how much they are selling for and see if you can get them at wholesale prices where you would make enough profit off of them.
I recommend downloading this free business ebook. It will help you get started with opening a business: http://consultations.exceptional-busines鈥?/a>

I want to start a small hosting business. about how much money will I need? And any other advice?
I need to look much further into this, but I was hoping I might be able to make some side money. I have some extra space and free electric at my apartment and a few thousand dollars (or a little more if nessasary) to start. I can put more money into it to make it bigger and better as time goes on and business gets better. Any advice about any aspect of this would be very greatly appreciated!I want to start a small hosting business. about how much money will I need? And any other advice?

Maybe You should try to google it first ,nonetheless, if you prefer some direct resource ,here http://tinyurl.com/bsvks6n... might be helpful.
Getting into the hosting game is a really exciting and fun thing to do. There are a number of things to consider:
1. Do you want to own the hardware and pay for the bandwidth or lease it?
2. Do you want to provide the technical support or have a 3rd party handle it.
3. If you are going to provide tech support, will you have phone, email, online helpdesk, live chat etc.? Will you have time to handle the volume of inquiries doing it on the side?
Once you have asked yourself those questions there are a few ways to go forward. A really good resource is http://www.webhostingtalk.com as they have hundreds of hosting company veterans as well as brand new startups as well all helping each other out.
Another idea is to just lease a dedicated server and resell hosting that some other company has. The startup costs are much lower and it is easier overall to get started. Then you can use your funds in marketing rather than trying to worry about server headaches and downtime etc.
Last of all, you may just want to refer people to hosts and make the affiliate money from them. Take a look at http://www.bestofthewebhosts.com - they review different web hosting companies and those companies pay the site owners when one of their referrals turns into a sale. You dont actually have to do anything to service the customers and you make more profit than the host does in the short term. Many hosts pay out close to a year of hosting fees for the referral. That is pure profit rather than having the headaches of hosting and low profit margins. Just something to think about.

What' s the best advice you can give to someone whose starting a home based business building gaming computers
How to start, how be successful, how to get customers and how to get his name out in the world? Thanks so much. ( We live in N.Y., don't know if that matters)What' s the best advice you can give to someone whose starting a home based business building gaming computers
Definitely have a web page. Pass out business cards EVERYWHERE. Word of mouth is always great.
Make sure you keep a separate bank account solely for the business. Get an accountant...he/she will know how to save on taxes. Keep ALL receipts...even if you don't think they'll be able to be used. Keep good and accurate records of expenses and income.
Find out tax laws for New York. You might be able to claim a portion of your home for the business on your taxes.
Create flyers or tri-folds and send them to businesses who might be interested in that type of service.
If you have the finances...advertise in magazines and newspapers.
Hang up flyers at coffee shops and anywhere else you can think of.
Chat on the web at different sites. Maybe the business can be mentioned at the proper time. The more people you have contact with, the better chance of spreading your name around.
Hang with like-minded people. What' s the best advice you can give to someone whose starting a home based business building gaming computers

I want to set up my own business selling bras, does anyone have any advice?
I have dreamed of having my own business selling bras since I was about 14 and I really want to go for it now. My main issue is though I want to design the bras myself, or at least have a part in it, I don't realistically think I'd be able to make all the bras myself however, so I suppose my main question really is how do I get my designed bras manufactured so that I can sell them?I want to set up my own business selling bras, does anyone have any advice?

What r the 10 most important advice in the Bible regarding MONEY or Business or Investments?
Jesus taught by the parable of the talents that he who is faithful with little will be faithful with much. Another good word is that it is best to not seek riches or you will recieve many problems. This is talking about avoiding greed not bettering your finacial condition. That is similar to ';The LOVE of Money is the root of all evil';. The book of proverbs tells us to consider the ant which saves for the future by storing its food. It is better to avoid useless debt because ';the lender is a slave to the boworrer';. Also any job or work is better than not working since the word says, '; In all labor there is profit.'; All earthly goods and wealth is considered Mammon but spiritual riches are of eternal value and ';You cannot serve two masters';, mammon or God. Give 10% of your income to God's work for Him to bless your earnings. Be generous and give to the poor or charitable causes. Faithful men (or women) should only be allowed to have charge over others and a time of testing can tell who is worthy. These characteristics were used to appoint leaders in the church but they also apply to work situations. What r the 10 most important advice in the Bible regarding MONEY or Business or Investments?

So I went to the website for a company called Capital Gold Group which is www.safeasgold.com, and got myself a bit of an education about investing at least a portion of my portfolio in real gold. Two of the most important pieces of investment advice I got for investing in this market was, ';Make sure you have your eggs in a lot of different baskets';, and ';Think long-term';.What r the 10 most important advice in the Bible regarding MONEY or Business or Investments?

Two of the most important pieces of investment advice I got for investing in this market was, ';Make sure you have your eggs in a lot of different baskets';, and ';Think long-term';.What r the 10 most important advice in the Bible regarding MONEY or Business or Investments?

Advice for a wannabe investment banker who is in first year of an undergraduate business school?
I really want to be an investment banker (corporate finance).
I just completed my first year of business school.
Do you have some advice about what I can do RIGHT NOW to help move me towards my goals?
I will be living in New York.Advice for a wannabe investment banker who is in first year of an undergraduate business school?
I work for a financial services firm, and often participate in recruiting college grads. Just a few tips:
-- GPA is very important -- start off on the right foot, and keep up the good grades. Most firms will only want to interview you for full time jobs if you've got a 3.7 or better.
-- School activities are important as well, particularly leadership opportunities, teamwork-oriented activities (like sports), or related activities (like an investments club). Go for quality, not quantity. Better to have a leadership position that makes a meaningful contribution in one club, than to be a general member of 5 clubs.
-- It's helpful to get an internship experience in the financial field. Most firms won't hire interns until the summer between your junior and senior years. But often smaller firms will take you as a sophomore. Doesn't matter much about which firm -- just get the experience so that you can talk about what you learned, what you liked, what you contributed, etc. And many firms will make you a full time offer based on the summer internship. Remember, you usually apply in January of your junior year, so keep on the deadlines.
-- Work your alumni connections -- if your school's career center has an alumni database, search for people at financial services firm and email them for advice and contacts.
Good luck!

Anyone have Real advice for using a 25,00$ loan for college or starting a business or investing in a business?

I have been looking for all kinds of employment and there really is not much out there to make a living to raise a family at, without a Bachelors degree at the least. I'm creating a purchase order for my new business and would like advice on the best FONT to use.?
I want it to look professional, and there are so many font styles it's overwhelming. Anyone familiar with form building? Tell me the best looking font to use. ThanksI'm creating a purchase order for my new business and would like advice on the best FONT to use.?
Nothing wrong with good old Helvetica.I'm creating a purchase order for my new business and would like advice on the best FONT to use.?
It all depends what you are selling. Look at other companies and see what they do. Hold the card a long way away from you. Can you still read your chosen font. - and keep it simple. The less detail you give the better.
Colour is very important as well - and that depends on what you are selling.
The regal colours and fonts ie purples, golds, silver, maroons etc. and swirling fonts are for high class professionals.
Primary colours with bold clear fonts for children etc....
Whatever anyone says, DO NOT USE COMIC SANS. If you have a form in comic sans, it is like having a clown walk in the room and read it in a sarcastic voice interrupted by farting and honking sounds.
Times New Roman is like having a nice Englishman walk in and pleasantly read it.

Any advice or direction on how to find free/inexpensive help w/ funding and business plan for a start up?
Im a 29 yr old mother of two who is looking to start up her own business. I am looking for advice on where to get free/inexpensive help with finding funding sources and also resources on putting together a business plan. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated!Any advice or direction on how to find free/inexpensive help w/ funding and business plan for a start up?
Absolutely. You need to contact your local Small Business Association (SBA). They offer free classes to help you learn how to write a business plan that you can take around to discuss with bankers when you are ready for a small business loan to help with your start up. They will tell you about all the different types of small business incorporation categories, so you will understand the difference between limited liability corporations (LLCs) and the more simple business structures. They will help you understand your responsibilities as a taxpayer. They may also introduce you to local business networking and help you find business incubation opportunities, such as inexpensive rent, group health insurance plans through consolidated small business groups, etc. It is a great resource, paid for through your taxes.
When you are ready to register your business, go to your state's website and you will find all the information you need to file your paperwork through the secretary of state's office.
Everything I have mentioned so far is free except for filing your business namem which is very inexpensive. Make sure you do a search so that you are not using a name already taken and copyrighted by another business entity.
One word of caution. PLEASE do not fall prey to those who tell you that they can help you find free government grants to start a business. These are scams.
And use your local research library to search for similar businesses in your areea, so you know how close the competition is, and how much they made over the preceding years. This is easy to do and it should be incorporated into your business plan.
Good luck to you. Working from home is a wonderful thing.Any advice or direction on how to find free/inexpensive help w/ funding and business plan for a start up?
If you need anything, I'd be more than happy to help. I've been lucky enough to be involved in three startups. If you need anything then shoot me off an email.
Go to http://www.grants.gov for a list of government grants and how you can apply for them. However, there are no grants for a for profit business unless you are opening a daycare and then it is a minimal amount. If you need money, you will need to apply for a loan. No lender will talk to you unless you provide them with a valid business plan. Go to http://www.sba.gov , http://www.score.org or http://www.bplan.com for sample business plans and instructions on how to write a business plan.
Then, go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor to review your business plan and discuss various loan options available to you.

O.k Rich..... You obviously know how to make your product or you wouldn't be asking this Question.
The best and biggest market place in the world is right here online, and I speak from experience.
You need to have a viable product and the means to buy the raw materials to make that product. Thats step one out of the way!
Step two... identify, and if possible undercut your competitors.
A high street shop with all its overheads and staff rarely undercuts an on line seller. If your product is unique in design then so much the better!
Make sure before you sell online what its going to cost in both product packaging and selling fees, these must be added to your projected selling price.
Try selling a 'one off ' on an internet site before you start pumping money in, this will give you a feel for the popularity of your product.
Some sites like ebay offer trading partners who will move your product for you at a price.
Your candles are an intrinsicaly heavy item, so sending by royal mail may put so much on the price that a potential buyer will back off. There are companies out there that deliver at much better rates, use them.
To sum up, you can be in this life whatever you make yourself to be. There are millions out there saying it can't be done mainly because they havent got the balls to try it.
Richard Branson started off at school selling girlie magazines to his mates.
Now he's got a scraggy beard and a cheesy grin! (And a few bob in the sherman tank)
GO FOR IT!!

I will soon start my own business, as an agent. I am seeking tips or advice for new business starter. Thanks!!
Most businesses start out small. As a new business owner you need to know your federal tax responsibilities. This page provides links to basic federal tax information for people who are starting a business. It also provides information to assist in making basic business decisions. The list should not be construed as all-inclusive. Other steps may be appropriate for your specific type of business: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/arti鈥?/a>
If you're looking to promote talent, you need to find the artists you want to promote, book an event/fundraiser, which showcases the artist. Research event planning. It requires alot of time and effort seeking investors/sponsors/donations, in addition to overseeing production of the event.

You haven't said what line you are going into so it is quite difficult to give you advice.
You must know your product really well and believe in it as your enthusiasm will help you sell.
Do your homework on where your customers base will come from, and set out a business plan costing all your expenses of set up costs, open a bank account in your company name and insurances for goods and premises (if needed), transport costs,
stationary headed paper (you can print your own on a computer).
That's just for starters.

Question to parents, I need some advice on what business to start up?
Hi i am a young mum who really needs to earn some extra cash and is now looking to set up my own business just want some feedback really as to what kind of services or things you would be willing to pay for, or always think to your self i wish there was one of them around.
Any help would be great thanksQuestion to parents, I need some advice on what business to start up?
Be baby sitter when you are looking after your own kids look after other kids. Others mums need them cause they are all busy at work.
Your could charge cheaper that the play school about 5pound.
all they need is food you could by really cheap food like from iclands that just cost 1pound or get them to bring a packed lunch. Take them to the park or take them to a beach. Stay at home and buy some toys and play. You could go into a garden and do some painting just basics swimming. Just think cheap make a profit.Question to parents, I need some advice on what business to start up?
With your little ones still young this might not work well, but I thought about doing some post partum services like a doula would do, but after the doula is gone. So, maybe make up 3-5 meals at your home that could freeze, deliver them to the mom and then do some quick basic cleaning, like bathrooms, kitchen wipe down and dishes, vacuum, and dust...just the basics that would allow the mom to feel at peace in her home, without having to do much, but not being there for a couple hours, doing the nitty gritty that she doesn't even care about!

I am getting ready to start the insurance business after a year of thinking. any advice on how to succeed?
I am starting NY life in a few weeks however I am nervous how this will effect my income. I ve been in the sales industry for a while and it doesnt seem too bad. I am just worry about how to get clients and such. I ve never had a commission only job and a little scared. NY life however give out bonuses if I can write 6 life cases a month. Is that a possible thing for a newbie?I am getting ready to start the insurance business after a year of thinking. any advice on how to succeed?
Sure it is, but you'll be making maybe 500 phone calls a week to get those six policies a month.
It's brutally hard, and it's 80 hour weeks.I am getting ready to start the insurance business after a year of thinking. any advice on how to succeed?
First, if this is the thing you want to do and which makes you happy - go for it. You will find the path and the clients, if you have your knowledge of insurance and you are focusing on the product or the needs that the client wants. You will get your referrals.
Initially, it takes time, but all the senior people also started as juniors.
Stay focused, learn the art of persuasion. Books by Brain Tracy will help.
All the best.
All you have to do is: build a network of people, without it you won't succeed, have a positive attitude, and learn how to sell.
I have never done sales in my life, but using common sense, this is all I could come up with.
Be persistent, if you have no spare job, and this is all you are doing, give it 110 percent.
Good luck.
Once you exhaust your circle of family and friends it is going to be very difficult to write any policies. Most go to senior agents.
You will be doing a lot of dailing for dollars. Find another job this place will use you up and spit you out. You most likely will never make that bonus.
