Can anyone please give me some advice on how to start up an internet business?

If you could give me some pointers, i.e. what not to do, how to get maximum customers, good service. What sort of problems usually occur to start up businesses, where it goes wrong for people and just some advice on how to get the ball moving.

I'm interested in selling mobile phones TVs and other hi-tech gadgets if that helps.

ThanksCan anyone please give me some advice on how to start up an internet business?
I noticed you put TV's on your list there.. to start off i would scrap that.. big, heavy needs courier's - can be a pain in the but for small internet business's if your a one man band you dont wanna be having to stay in 24/7 waiting for DHL.. start with things that can be sent via the local post office. 1 trip per day to sort out all your outgoings...

set up your webpage - dont bother with online credit card payment etc at first, add a paypal link button, that will surfice for the first few months/years. apart from that, just stick with it.. and keep your eyes peeled for barginings everywere you see themCan anyone please give me some advice on how to start up an internet business?
1. Sell products which have (no ebay) policy

2. Make sure you know how to edit images properly before adding them to your website

3. Get an i phone so that you can answer emails on the go

4. Don't hire an 'SEO' so called expert who has to call you to get the business (we do all our website and SEO ourselves - it's easy and just common sense)

5. Understand that it will take a few months for the sales to start coming in so be patient

6. Advertise - and haggle the price of advertising

7. Sell products that arnet 'everywhere' but are in demand

9. Make sure you stand out from the compertition

10. Don't worry too much about the competition!
You should get a qualification in E-business management. They teach you everything you need to know.
